If the CALC LED stays on, machine needs descaling. Insert empty portafilter. Remove drip tray and place large container-min 50 oz. Pour full bottle of descaler into the tank. Fill tank with tap water and place back onto the machine. 

Press and hold espresso and lungo buttons for 5 seconds. Machine dispenses solution through spout and wand. This takes up to 30 minutes. Wait until the lungo buttons blinks fast, espresso and CALC stays on. 

Empty the container.

Remove the tank. Rinse the tank with water. Fill the tank. Place back the tank and push it forwards until it clicks in place. Place back the container. Press the blinking lungo button to start flushing cycle. When the tank is empty, lungo button starts flushing.

Remove the tank. Fill the tank. Place back the tank and push it forwards until it clicks in place. Place back the container. Press the blinking lungo button to start second flush cycle. When the second cycle is finished, all lights switch off. After descaling remove wand by rotating and pulling it down. Detach the top and metal parts by pulling them apart. Remove knob by turning and pulling towards you. Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft sponge (dishwasher-safe). Rinse the knob. Dry all parts with a dry cloth. Make sure everything is completely dry. Place back the knob into the wand. Re-attach. Make sure the metal tube is fully attached. Attach the wand back onto the machine. Push it upwards until you hear a click.
